Let’s do it again – Bring IT, Together 2017

The organizing committee for our annual conference,  BringIT, Together!  is getting things rolling.  The co-chairs for this year are Brad Ross, OASBO ICT Rep, and Carlo Fusco, ECOO Rep.  You can contact them directly at conference@bringittogether.ca

Mark the following dates on your 2017 calendar, if you haven’t already!

Bring IT, Together!  #BIT17
Dates: November 8, 9, and 10
Location: Scotiabank Convention Centre, Niagara Falls.

The call for session proposals will be issued very soon.  It’s not too early for you to start thinking about what session you would like to present at Bring IT, Together, #BIT17.  Presenters receive free admission to the conference on the day they present.

Minds On Media is returning to #BIT17.  Last year the ballroom was filled with stations of experts that shared with those who chose to speak with them.

ECOO Board of Directors, 2016-17, finalized

The ECOO election process held last fall for our Board of Directors left us with a number of vacancies to fill.  Our call for expressions of interest to fill these vacancies yielded a number of submissions for each of the open positions. After taking time to consider roles, experiences, skill sets and needs of the organization, we are pleased to announce the following positions:

ECOO Board of Directors Meeting – October 3 2016

The ECOO Board of Directors met online via Adobe Connect for their monthly meeting.

Elections Update
An update to the nominations for the 2016 election was provided. Several of the positions will have members acclaimed to them. There are still a few positions without nominees. This will be discussed and addressed at the 2016 AGM at the BIT16 in November.

AGM Planning
The 2016 AGM will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday November 10 in Peller Room A at the Scotiabank Convention Centre during BIT16 Conference. Lunch will be provided at the meeting for all ECOO members who attend.

Conference Update
There are currently more people register for this years conference than there was at the same time last year for BIT15, so conference committee is optimistic that attendance will be good this year. If you haven’t registered yet, please visit www.bringittogether.ca to do so.

Other business
Two meetings are upcoming and will be attended by ECOO Board members. The OTF Curriculum Forum on October 22, and Ontario College of Teachers Open Space Technology forum on October 24.

2016: ECOO Board of Directors

August 13th, 2016

The Nominations Committee of the Educational Computing Organization of Ontario has opened the Call for Nominations for positions on the ECOO Board of Directors for 2016 -2017.

The nominations period will close on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 5:00 pm

ECOO works to support the effective use of technology in the classroom through:

  • hosting an annual conference;

  • forming partnerships with other educational organizations and vendors; and

  • liaising with the Ministry of Education.

ECOO members are invited to share their enthusiasm and expertise by serving on the ECOO Board of Directors.

 

If you want to be actively involved in running your organization or wish to encourage the involvement of a colleague, please submit nominations for positions on the ECOO Board of Directors.

ECOO Board positions for the 2016 election:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Director-at-Large (2 members to be elected in 2016.)

Note that the positions of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer are elected annually. These positions serve on the Executive Committee.

Note that the four Director-at-Large  positions support long-term goals and functioning of ECOO, and are elected for two-year terms.  Each annual election sees two Director-at-Large positions filled for a two-year term.

 

ECOO Board of Directors Meeting – June 2016

The ECOO BoD met online June 6, 2016 for the final meeting of the 15/16 school year.

The meeting was attended by Jeff, Harry, Donna, Colin, Mark, Zoe and Jaclyn.

Board members continue to provide information and blog posts for the ECOO website, and were encouraged to provide a year end post as well.

The election will take place this coming fall, and it was announced that Kristy Lucker will serve as the chair of the election process. The Board thanks her immensely for stepping up to fill that role!

Harry updated on BIT16 and announced that all sessions had been selected by the selection committee and successful presenters would be notified very shortly. It was also noted that the 2nd keynote has been finalized and will be Jesse Brown.  Registration is almost ready to go, and should be open soon, perhaps as early as this week.

AGM – it was decided to move the AGM to a lunchtime meeting on Thursday, November 10th at BIT16. This is done to encourage more ECOO members to attend.

We also have a finalized ‘evergreen’ agreement with OASBO and ECOO for the co-hosting of the BIT conferences.

Jeff updated some financial info about accounts, payments and updated expense forms.

The Board wishes everyone a happy and restful summer break. The next BoD meeting will be September 12, 2016.
