ECOO works to support the effective use of technology in the classroom through:
hosting an annual conference;
forming partnerships with other educational organizations and vendors; and
liaising with the Ministry of Education.
ECOO members are invited to share their enthusiasm and expertise by serving on the ECOO Board of Directors.
If you want to be actively involved in running your organization or wish to encourage the involvement of a colleague, please submit nominations for positions on the ECOO Board of Directors.
ECOO Board positions for the 2016 election:
Director-at-Large (2 members to be elected in 2016.)
Note that the positions of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer are elected annually. These positions serve on the Executive Committee.
Note that the four Director-at-Large positions support long-term goals and functioning of ECOO, and are elected for two-year terms. Each annual election sees two Director-at-Large positions filled for a two-year term.
The ECOO BoD met online June 6, 2016 for the final meeting of the 15/16 school year.
The meeting was attended by Jeff, Harry, Donna, Colin, Mark, Zoe and Jaclyn.
Board members continue to provide information and blog posts for the ECOO website, and were encouraged to provide a year end post as well.
The election will take place this coming fall, and it was announced that Kristy Lucker will serve as the chair of the election process. The Board thanks her immensely for stepping up to fill that role!
Harry updated on BIT16 and announced that all sessions had been selected by the selection committee and successful presenters would be notified very shortly. It was also noted that the 2nd keynote has been finalized and will be Jesse Brown. Registration is almost ready to go, and should be open soon, perhaps as early as this week.
AGM – it was decided to move the AGM to a lunchtime meeting on Thursday, November 10th at BIT16. This is done to encourage more ECOO members to attend.
We also have a finalized ‘evergreen’ agreement with OASBO and ECOO for the co-hosting of the BIT conferences.
Jeff updated some financial info about accounts, payments and updated expense forms.
The Board wishes everyone a happy and restful summer break. The next BoD meeting will be September 12, 2016.
The ECOO Board of Directors met online in Adobe Connect on April 4, 2016, at 9:00 p.m.
The meeting was attended by Mark Carbone, Donna Fry, Harry Niezen, Jaclyn Calder, Mark Chesser, Jeff Weir, and Zoe Branigan-Pipe
Thank you to Zoe and Jaclyn for their work in setting up ECOO StoryBytes. We encourage educators to tell their stories and share their work with others across the province. Details can be found here: http://ecoo.org/blog/2016/03/30/ecoo-storybytes/
The membership site is up and running on the website. This enables people who cannot attend the conference to be members of ECOO.
We are searching for an Elections Officer for ECOO. A motion was passed to subsidize the Elections Officer to attend the BIT16 conference to fulfill his/her duties. A posting for interested ECOO members will be up on the website in April.
Thank you to the BIT16 Conference Committee Chair Harry Niezen for the update to the Board of Directors. Over 300 presentation proposals were received for BIT16 and the process of finding the best learning opportunities for our members is now underway.
There are so many incredible stories and projects happening across Ontario, Canada and beyond. Why wait until the Bring it Together Conference to learn about them?
Over the next several months, members of the ECOO board will be seeking out Educators and Leaders for a brief online interview.
We would like to post these interviews as regular features on the Bring it Together blog. Even better, we would like to add your StoryByte to your profile when you register for the conference.
Do you have a story to share?
Will you share a summary of what you plan on sharing at the Bring it Together Conference?
Will you share something about your position that is unique or different or that others might not know.
Will you share a project or initiative that you have been working on at the school level?
Will you share what you plan on “getting” while at the Bring it Together Conference?
Will you share an experience that you have had at a Bring it Together Conference?
Check out ECOO’s first StoryByte, where Jaclyn interviews Zoe Branigan-Pipe about Makerspaces.
Here you will see this is informal so there is no need to prepare or worry, just share something that means a lot to you! We would appreciate any feedback from members about the StoryBytes project so that ECOO can continue to develop this initiative in the future.
Do you have any recommendations of who we could interview? Please let us know here and we will get in contact.
