was formed in 1979 and since then the organization has grown steadily.
-
over the years ECOO has served thousands of teachers in their quest to integrate computers
-
represents all levels of the education system and draws members from all areas of study.
-
has membership extending across international boundaries, although the primary focus is on Ontario issues.
Annual Conference
ECOO holds a major conference on educational computing.
This major event provides sessions for everyone from a beginner user to the computer expert.
All levels of education, from pre-school to post secondary are covered.
The conference features over 200 presentations by leaders and local experts.
A large exhibit area features many local and international vendors, highlighting new products or services for teacher and student use.
ECOO Mini-Conferences
ECOO Special Interest Groups (ECOO-SIGs) often hold smaller, one or two-day conferences which focus on a particular aspect of educational computing.
These conferences are usually held outside the Toronto area in an effort to provide an opportunity and benefit teachers throughout the province of Ontario.
ECOO Programming Contest
ECOO Special Interest Group for Computer Science (ECOO-CS) organizes three contests for secondary students.
The Boardwide contest is held in early March, the Regional contest in April and the Ontario Final Contest in early May.
ECOO Awards
Each year, ECOO recognizes and honours one graduating student who has shared his or her talent in computers with the community and who has chosen a career in Computer Technology.
ECOO frequently honours educators who use innovative ways of teaching with technology through the "Educator's Award".
ECOO Elementary
ECOO-Elementary promotes awareness of trends in computer applications at the pre-school level through Grade 8 level through sharing of ideas, a support network and annual mini-conferences. This group organizes the ECOO webspinner contest. For more details see their website.
