Aviva Dunsiger is a Kindergarten teacher with the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. Over the past 17 years, she has taught every grade from JK-Grade 6 in some capacity, but her heart is definitely down in Kindergarten, and she’s thrilled to be back in it. As a self-identified “educational troublemaker,” Aviva is not afraid to take on controversial topics or offer a different perspective on various topics. She loves to share her thinking through her professional blog, Living Avivaloca: My Many Musings On Life And Learning.
Aviva is also an avid user of both Twitter and Instagram, and you can find her on both at @avivaloca. She primarily shares documentation of classroom learning through her accounts, but also enjoys getting involved in conversations, particularly around Kindergarten, math, play, documentation, and self-regulation. Aviva is also involved in working for The MEHRIT Centre as the moderator of Portal Plus, and also contributes monthly posts there.
Aviva uses her blog to reflect on classroom happenings, but also on new learning related to current topics of interest. Play, self-regulation, and parking (as a metaphor for teaching and learning) are three of her favourite topics to discuss, and they’re definitely reflected in five of her favourite posts.
We thank Aviva for sharing her learning on such a prolific basis, and for allowing us to share five of her favourite posts.
