This guided discussion will be supported by 4 co-presenters/educators who are digital leaders from the TDSB and love to share leadership to build teacher capacity. During this session, this team, with experience in teaching Virtual school, will demonstrate how they use a variety of digital tools to make learning relevant, equitable and engaging for Junior and Intermediate students across the curriculum. While a variety of tools will be presented, the focus of the session is to examine effective pedagogy in virtual spaces. Participants will work in small breakout groups to pursue areas of particular interest with the support of these teachers. Breakout room topics include: Engaging Students in Math with Google Slides and Jamboard addressing instructional materials, math talks, virtual manipulatives, individual/collaborative work and slow-reveal graphs (Christine Haladay), Responsive Engineering of Digital Spaces from Brick & Mortar to Virtual School (Mandeep Kohli), Coding the Story of a Plastic Water Bottle using Scratch and Jamboard (Arooj Arslan), Creating Dynamic Brightspace Widgets with Google Slides (Hella Richter-Glinos).
