NOTE: Although the primary focus of Part 2 is math, the activities we’ll explore can be repurposed for students in any content area. Teachers of all subjects and grade levels are encouraged to join in and exchange ideas. One goal of the Ontario curriculum is for learners to use a variety of digital and media tools to collaborate, synthesize, communicate, and create. During this session, we’ll delve into how working on digital interactive and collaborative activities provided students the opportunity to develop these competencies in your classes while they: ▪️ build and consolidate their math skills and understandings, and ▪️ become more proficient in mathematical thinking and communicating [as per the math achievement indicators]. During this hands-on session you’ll experiment with and adapt several ‘apps’ collected in a simulated tablet (which can also be redesigned for your context). All you need is a Google account (with Drive, Docs, Slides, and Jamboard apps updated if you’re using a tablet) and, if you haven’t tried anything like this before, a willingness to step a little outside your comfort zone.
