Financial Literacy: Ministry of Education Seeks Input
Communication from the Curriculum, Assessment and Student Success Policy Branch at the Ministry of Education has been received through Ontario’s subject associations inviting input from educators on Financial Literacy education.
Good afternoon,
Since 2011, the Ministry of Education has been working with educators to integrate financial literacy concepts in their classrooms. The goal is to make financial literacy a part of every student’s learning from Grades 4 to 12 by enhancing and embedding financial topics and concepts across the provincial curriculum.
Several Subject / Division Associations have supported this work through partnering with the Ministry to develop subject / discipline specific financial literacy resources. These and other financial literacy resources for educators are available on the ministry’s EduGAINS website.
Information for parents is available on the ministry’s website at: Ontario.ca/financialliteracy.
A survey has been developed to gather feedback on the resources as well as the design of the financial literacy domain on EduGAINs. The survey is short and should only take five minutes.
The feedback will help us to identify areas for improvement in terms of resource development and website design, so that educators have easy access to teaching supports for financial literacy education. It will also inform broader research and planning to enhance the overall EduGAINS website. The survey will be available until April 30, 2018.
