Board of Directors 2019/2020

The Educational Computing Organization of Ontario (ECOO) will announce its new Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting later this year.  Typically, this is done during the annual Bring IT, Together Conference.

The Board of Directors features a number of positions of responsibility.  Some of the positions are for one year and some are for two year. This year, the following positions are open.

  • President (1 year)
  • Vice-President (1 year)
  • Secretary (1 year)
  • Treasurer (1 year)
  • Director at Large (2 positions each for 2 years)

The complete board also includes a Past-President, two more Directors at Large, and a Conference Chair.

Members of the Board of Directors may be self-nominated or nominated by others.  In order to be eligible, both the person nominating and the candidate must be ECOO members.  Membership is free and details about how you may become a member are available here.

ECOO is recognized as a subject organization by the Ontario Teachers Federation (OTF) and the Ministry of Education.  ECOO has a seat at the OTF Curriculum Forum. Members of the board meet monthly online and once face to face at the Annual Conference to set direction and manage initiatives for the organization.  These initiatives include, but are not limited to Special Interest Groups, Membership recruitment, and #ECOOcamps,

Please take a moment to consider your leadership and team building skills and how they might be applied to make ECOO a vibrant force supporting computer use in classrooms throughout the province.  If it’s a positive fit for you or you know of someone who would be an asset to the organization, please send an email indicating so to nominations@ecoo.org.

When the formal nominations process opens, notice will be made on the ECOO website (https://ecoo.org) and you’ll receive a personal notification from the Nominations Committee.

This year is the 40th anniversary of the organization.  Recognized as the voice and advocate for computer-using educators in the province, strong leadership is needed to kick off the next 40 years.  Consider whether that person is you or someone you would like to nominate.
